Sarah Meeker PTMSATC
Sarah's interest in movement and body mechanics began while she was
a college student studying dance and kinesiology at San Francisco
State University. After graduating from SFSU in 1978, she continued
on to study biomechanics, anatomy and exercise physiology in the
Graduate Athletic Training Program at the University of Oregon.
She became a Certified Athletic Trainer in 1979 and earned an MS
degree from the U of O in 1980. She spent the next seven years
working at the Center for Sports Medicine and Running Injuries of
Eugene and at the U of O, where she treated the sports injuries of
recreational adult and adolescent athletes, elite runners and gymnasts.
A desire to broaden her scope of practice to include non-sport related
problems sent her back to school to become a Physical Therapist.
Since graduating from University of Washington's PT program in 1989,
she worked at U of W Hall Health Center until starting Physical Therapy
Works in 2000.
Sarah is pleased to have found a career that blends her interest in
biomechanics with her love for problem solving. She derives great
satisfaction from empowering people with the knowledge to understand
and self- correct the faulty alignment and movement patterns that can
contribute to their pain.
Susanne MichaudDPT
Susanne’s passion for anatomy, alignment and movement is rooted in
her lifelong participation in fitness, sports and outdoor activities.
After graduating with a BA degree in political science from the
University of Washington, she chose to follow her interest in health
and body mechanics by pursuing careers in massage therapy and yoga.
In addition to becoming a licensed massage practitioner in 1993,
Susanne became a certified yoga instructor in 2002 through the Pacific
Yoga Teacher Training and earned certification in manual lymphatic
drainage and combined decongestive therapy from the Vodder School in
1996. She ran her own massage therapy practice for 12 years before
a hunger to deepen her knowledge and effectiveness, drove her to obtain
a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) from the University of Washington
in 2007. Following PT school she worked at the UW Sports Medicine
Clinic where she specialized in treatment of orthopedic problems and
sports injuries. Susanne has a special interest in teaching that
developed while she was lead instructor at the Brain Utting (now Cortiva)
School of Massage from 1994 – 1999. She continues to share her expertise
in soft tissue mobilization techniques as an instructor in the UW School
of Medicine Physical Therapy program.
Susanne is committed to providing the best care for her patients
with the aim of optimizing healing, function and performance. She enjoys
the process of uncovering the underlying movement inefficiencies,
perpetuating postures and repetitive stresses responsible for pain or
injury and tailoring a sensible plan of care that specifically addresses
each persons’ unique issues.
