What We Do

We start by listening, because information about the history and nature of a condition and understanding a person's lifestyle are the important first steps to problem solving and goal setting. Next we gather objective measurements through a comprehensive assessment of alignment, movement patterns, joint mechanics and muscle function. From this information, we identify global faulty movements or postures and pinpoint specific local biomechanical dysfunction to create a personalized plan of treatment.

Treatment options include use of manual therapy techniques to restore mobility in restricted areas, design of customized strengthening and muscle activation exercises to restore stability and balance, and instruction in body mechanics to restore healthy movement patterns and alignment. After decades of practice and continuing education, we have developed an eclectic treatment approach that includes techniques from many schools of manual therapy, movement education and rehabilitation science. We are constantly developing our "tool kit" and rely on current research to ensure that our methods are evidence based and effective.

Since our musculoskeletal systems are strongly influenced by the repetitive things we do, it is important to watch our patients perform the specific activities that are unique to their lifestyle. If we can't simulate work or play environments in our office, we can do site visits.

We like to work collaboratively with other experts, since we have found that use of complementary treatments enhances results. We welcome the opportunity to become part of a person's healthcare team, which may include massage therapists, personal trainers, chiropractors, acupuncturists, physicians or other providers.

Who We Help

We help anyone who is dealing with acute injury, chronic pain, post-operative rehabilitation or recurrent problems related to muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, tendons, nerves and the spine. We also provide wellness consultations to those who want to improve posture, body mechanics or prevent injury.

We have experience working with children, teens and adults, as well as with people from a broad spectrum of activity levels: elite athletes, sedentary desk jockeys and everyone in between.

The success of our treatment relies heavily on changing movement patterns and alignment, and on following through with home exercises. So, we have the best outcomes when our patients are motivated and committed to participating actively in their recovery.
